2023 Pre-Season Power Rankings:
The third season of the ACL begins this week and with that comes new questions. Chief among them is how will theses teams stack up against one another?
The Power Rankings strives to analyze the teams with a mixture of past results and future outcomes for the current season while in comparison with the rest of the league.
1. Maryland
The king stays at the top until someone takes his crown. The defending champ returns a lineup that is more than capable of a repeat behind the duo of Mahomes and Kelce.
2. South Dakota
South Dakota owns the title of most well rounded team with both its top end talent and deep bench. After back to back years of great regulars seasons, is this finally the year that they bring home that elusive championship title?
3. Virginia
Full of veterans, Virginia is poised for making a run at the title. Good health is a must to reach the level that injuries held them back from hitting last season.
4. Washington
A year removed from a title, the core is still there and this team is poised to be in contention yet again. What happens at TE and the level that the veterans perform will decide the ceiling of this team.
5. Arizona
An almost entirely new roster from a year ago, this team is filled with young talent. It has the potential to leap up the power rankings but first the team has actually play at that high level.
6. California
Behind an electric group of pass catchers, California is poised to make some noise in the ACL. They’ll have to rely on Smith or Jones to continue in accent upwards as fantasy assets at the QB spot.
7. Minnesota
The WR1 and RB1 going into the season means a competitive team. However, there are question marks about the roster that hold them back from being higher in the rankings.
8. Hawaii
Hawaii is a firm believer in the saying defense wins championships. They’ll look to mix that with Jackson and Henry to pave a new path to success in the Pacific division.
9. Ohio
After a disappointing season, Ohio comes into this year with a very different vibe from last season. There’s a bright future ahead as this team develops.
10. Vermont
Vermont has quietly built a team with some very exciting young pieces. However this team is still a year and a QB away from truly competing for a playoff spot.
11. Iowa
Lots of questions on the roster with some potential going into the season. In the Great Lakes Division there’s always a chance at contention with a few breaks.
12. Wisconsin
Ridley and the QB room will look to keep the opposition on upset alert this year. The question is can this team consistently surpass their expectations and find a way to compete.
